Chapter 296: - Selene in Greek Mythology
Leon smiled and glanced at her. "I learned how from YouTube. Then I tried it out and got my license. It\'s as simple as that."
"Are you kidding me, Leon?"
"No, I\'m serious," he replied. "Besides, this vehicle is equipped with an auto-drive system, so we don\'t need to worry. If I suddenly forget how to drive, we can just rely on the auto-drive feature, right?"
"If this wasn\'t a Northstar, I probably wouldn\'t have agreed to join this trip," Freya said, giggling.
In just about two hours, they arrived at their destination-a serene lake located quite a distance from the bustling city. The area was expansive, offering plenty of space with designated spots for camp buses. The sight of the lake greeted them, its blue and green waters glistening under the warm sunlight.
Leon skillfully parked the Home Bus close to the lake, in a spot that promised both a stunning view and easy access to various pathways winding through the trees to other campsites. The area had clearly been well-maintained, making it a perfect spot for their camping adventure. They noticed flat patches of grass ideal for pitching their tents, and large rocks conveniently arranged to serve as natural fire pits. Stepping out of the bus, they felt an invigorating breeze, the air crisp and fresh.Nôv(el)B\\\\jnn
"Yeah! Finally, we arrived," Lily shouted cheerfully. "With this, we can truly have a vacation every weekend. Right, Leon?" she said, looking at him.
"Yeah, I guess?" he replied, somewhat uncertain.
Lily giggled. "Come on, Freya." She pulled Freya away from the bus.
Leon walked to the side of the bus. He pressed a button on his phone, and a section of the bus expanded and unfolded. In no time, it revealed a kitchen and an open canopy.
In a short amount of time, it had transformed into a relaxing area with comfortable seating, tables, and a bar. The sun shone brightly on the newly formed space, illuminating it in a warm golden light.
Leon was no stranger to experiencing the beauty of nature-forests, beaches, lakes, and mountains-through the Immortal Legacy game. But there was something about the fresh air that made it feel different from the game.
"I\'m sure it would be fun to spend the night here every once in a while," Leon said, sitting down in a lounge chair and taking a sip from his drink bottle.
Freya and Lily then joined him, bringing snacks to share. They all sat facing the lake as the sun slowly descended, painting it with a golden hue.
They leisurely chatted while admiring the setting sun. Suddenly, a thought struck Leon.
"Did anyone record the Rain Summoning Ritual in full?"
"Yes!" Lily nodded quickly. "Max did. Do you want to see it? Maybe you want to see yourself dancing?"
"Is there a woman with long pink hair among them?" he asked.
"I\'m not sure. I didn\'t pay attention that closely," Lily replied.
Freya looked curious about Leon\'s question. "Who are you referring to? A woman with pink hair?"
Leon then grabbed Lily\'s cell phone and played the video from start to finish.
"Look, she should be here, dancing around this spot," he said, pointing to a spot on the
screen.
"I don\'t see anyone," Freya said, looking puzzled.
"I\'m absolutely sure I saw a woman, a special NPC. I think she\'s related to the Moon Goddess, or she might even be the Moon Goddess herself," he replied.
Freya and Lily peered at the same cell phone screen but couldn\'t spot the figure Leon had mentioned.
"I don\'t see anyone with pink hair there," Lily said.
"But I\'m certain I saw her. I don\'t know if I was imagining it or not," he replied. "But no, that\'s not possible."
"What\'s her name?" Freya asked.
"Selene."
"Selene?" She repeated, appearing thoughtful after hearing the name.
"Selene is an ancient figure from Greek mythology," she then said.
"Does that have any connection?" Leon asked.
"Selene is the name of the goddess of the moon in Greek mythology, also known as Mene."
"So, Selene, the mysterious woman I saw during the ritual night, was really the Goddess of the Moon? Because her name is the same as the goddess in Greek mythology?"
"No," Freya shook her head. "I\'m referring to Selene from real-world mythology, which may not necessarily be the same as the one in the game. While the game does draw a lot of inspiration from the real world, I can\'t assure you that the Selene you saw is actually the Goddess of the Moon herself."
Leon continued. "So, did you ever come across anything about the Goddess of the Moon in the game? Any idea who she is? I\'m still not sure how many gods are there in Immortal Legacy."
Freya nodded slowly, considering Leon\'s question.
Lily, on the other hand, seemed excited, her eyes flicking back and forth between them.
The sky shifted from a bright, warm orange to a deep, dark purple as the sun set, turning the trees and leaves into dark silhouettes against the lake. As the darkness grew, the lake sparkled with reflections from the lights of the Home Bus and other sources. The air was filled with the gentle chorus of crickets and cicadas, giving the scene a peaceful, serene feeling.
"Okay, I\'ll try to explain what I know about the Goddess of the Moon." Freya began, a thoughtful look on her face.
She went on, "Across the South Continent, there are countless tales and myths about the Goddess of the Moon. People believe she often aids those who face troubles and difficulties. Many stories from the past mention her presence.
"As far as I know, no one has ever mentioned her identity or name directly. It seems no one has ever met the Goddess in person or even knows her name. But the tales describe her as a very kind and beautiful goddess who always appears during major misfortunes to help those in need," Freya explained in detail.
Leon tried to take in everything she had told him.
"Is the Goddess here really a deity or just a nickname?" he asked, but then he reconsidered his own words. "No, I\'m sure she\'s a real Deity; the quest called her the Goddess."
His voice became more urgent. "Then, was Selene, the girl I saw that time, really the Goddess of the Moon? Why was I the only one who could see her?"
Freya said. "I\'ve never heard of something like this before either. When only one player can see something, it\'s like you\'re seeing a ghost while everyone else can\'t see it," she said,
giggling.
Leon shook his head slowly. "A ghost wouldn\'t be that beautiful, right?" he said, chuckling. "From her appearance, I could see the perfection that exists in a goddess."
He turned to Freya. "I\'ve also met Goddess Akidia. Even though she always looks sleepy and falls asleep easily, she\'s incredibly beautiful and perfect."
"Uhm..." Lily suddenly spoke up.
Freya and Leon both turned to look at her as she softly continued, "I\'m studying history in Yunatea, and I\'m quite interested in the origins of the Sword of Dissidia. I think it might be
connected to the Goddess of the Moon."
Leon was intrigued. "Tell me more, Lily."
