Chapter 47: 47 Night's Turmoil
The water made a sudden noise.
Zhang Widow and Chun Tao were startled, hastily calling out, "Who\'s there?"
Only then did Long Xiaoshan realize that he had been swimming underwater for too long and had inadvertently reached the back of Shieyan Rock, where a stone blocked the view, and it was a popular spot for many women to wash. However, it was also a place where the young men from the village liked to sneak peeks.
Therefore, Zhang Widow and Chun Tao thought that someone from the village had come to spy on them.
They quickly shouted loudly.
Fearing they would call others, and that he would be utterly embarrassed, Long Xiaoshan hurriedly said, "It\'s me, don\'t shout, Sister Zhang, Chun Tao, I didn\'t know you were here."
"Is that little Xiaoshan?"
Recognizing Long Xiaoshan\'s voice, Zhang Widow and Chun Tao\'s cries subsided.
"It\'s me," Long Xiaoshan said quietly.
"Little Xiaoshan, what are you hiding in the water for?" Zhang Widow asked cheerfully, without a hint of shyness after hearing it was Long Xiaoshan.
As for Chun Tao, she was very shy and ducked under the water, not daring to say anything.
"I was bathing, I accidentally swam here, I thought no one would be here so late," Long Xiaoshan explained.
Zhang Widow giggled, covering her mouth with her hand.
This spot was somewhat concealed, behind a stone, and given that they were talking, anyone approaching would surely hear. To come out stealthily from under the water and claim it was an accident, Zhang Widow did not believe it for a second.
However, she didn\'t mind, knowing that Long Xiaoshan was at an age where his blood ran hot, and it was quite normal for him to sneak a peek at the bathers.
In the village, what young man hasn\'t done such a thing?
"Sister, I\'m going to leave now, I\'m off," Long Xiaoshan said, feeling extremely embarrassed.
Rushing out, Long Xiaoshan breathed heavily,
intending to head straight back home.
Suddenly, he heard a faint sound. Although the footsteps were light and the voices deliberately lowered, his Spiritual Perception had become exceptionally sharp after breaking through a layer of the Longevity Art.
Who else could be coming at this late hour?
Was someone else coming to bathe, or had they heard Chun Tao\'s earlier shouts?
Long Xiaoshan quickly crouched behind a haystack, looking in the direction of the sounds.
Using his Spirit Eye, Long Xiaoshan saw two people, sneaking around by the fishpond, seemingly pouring something into it.
"Ergouzi?"
Long Xiaoshan narrowed his eyes; one was Ergouzi, and the other was a young man from the village called little Tie. These two usually hung around Long Fakui, mooching off others. What were they doing at the farm at this hour, and even pouring something into the fishpond?
Long Xiaoshan sniffed and thought he detected the stench of pesticides wafting over with the night breeze.
"Damn it,"
Long Xiaoshan immediately realized what was going on. These bastards dared to sneak into his farm and poison it in the middle of the night. This scent of pesticides did not belong to his farm, as he grew pure, organic fruits and vegetables naturally, without the use of such chemicals.
Clearly, the smell came from whatever Ergouzi and his companion had brought.
Thinking of this, fury shot to the crown of Long Xiaoshan\'s head, for this was an outrageous act. To poison someone else\'s cultivation pond, the hatred behind such an act was beyond ordinary.
No longer caring about his lack of clothing, Long Xiaoshan dashed out from behind the haystack.
He quickly reached Ergouzi and the other, smelling the intense pesticide odor they were dumping into the pond.
Long Xiaoshan grabbed Ergouzi and punched him hard in the face.
Fueled by rage, the punch split Ergouzi\'s face open, completely shattering his nose, causing him to scream in agony.
Long Xiaoshan then grabbed the other young man and struck him down with a fierce punch as well.
Afterward, he kicked them violently.
Overcome with anger, such incidents had never happened in the village before. Long Xiaoshan\'s eyes reddened as he kicked forcefully. The two young men from the village could not withstand his strength.
They were kicked until they were covered in blood and couldn\'t even scream.
"Little Xiaoshan, what\'s happening? What\'s all this? Stop it now!"
"Don\'t hit them anymore, someone\'s going to die."
Two women ran over in a panic, trying to stop Long Xiaoshan.
Zhang Widow and Chun Tao had heard the dreadful screams from the farm and thought something terrible had happened, so they rushed over.
They arrived to see Long Xiaoshan beating the two men.
The bloodied scene made them anxious, fearing Long Xiaoshan would beat them to death, which could be a matter of life and death.
So they quickly pulled Long Xiaoshan away.
Pulled back by the two women, Long Xiaoshan calmed down a bit and finally stopped kicking, but the two men were already immobile.
"Little Xiaoshan, what are you doing? These are our fellow villagers. If you beat someone to death, you\'ll have to pay with your life," Zhang Widow scolded anxiously.
Chun Tao was also very worried, looking at Long Xiaoshan, whose face was still furious, not knowing what to say.
"Look at them, carrying pesticides and pouring them into my fishpond. Tell me, shouldn\'t I beat them?" Long Xiaoshan pointed angrily at the metal bucket on the ground, with his anger still not subsided.
Zhang Widow approached the bucket and quickly covered her nose, "Dichlorvos."
She cursed, "These two damn wretches dare to do such a thing, aren\'t they afraid of bringing calamity upon their descendants?"
Seeing the pesticide, Zhang Widow understood why Long Xiaoshan was so furious.
Robbing someone of their livelihood was like killing their parents.
To sabotage someone\'s painstakingly cultivated fishpond with pesticides, in a village, where disputes over even small matters could lead to fatalities, this sort of behavior was all too egregious.
