Chapter 112: Just Forget

First of all, most of the elders there were once participants in these kinds of exams and went through similar experiences.

Alexandra, obviously, kept her eyes on the Maguses and Familiars from the planet she was put in charge of, Serfen. She ignored the Level Five ones, though. The Level Five Familiar and Magus were having an easy time. Even if they hadn\'t spent much time learning about Magic Energy Control and went full-throttle into leveling, their levels made everything much easier.

The strongest Star Ray was only Level Three. Both Xifrin and Trodeu could easily knock out the Star Rays who tried to take them away. Yes, they looked like giant beacons of Magic Energy that attracted many other Star Rays, but they easily dispatched all Star Rays who tried their luck. They didn\'t kill a single one, though. They only gave a beating and scared them off.

The main reason was obviously the fact both Xifrin and Trodeu could fly in the real meaning of the word. Even if a few Star Rays managed to pull Xifrin and Trodeu\'s Magic Energy together with their bodies, Trodeu and Xifrin only had to fly back to the asteroid.

That said, Alexandra didn\'t even pay attention to those two. The only way either of them could die in this exam was if they didn\'t save enough Magic Energy to last the 40 Clicks of time. But if that happened, they could only blame themselves.

Alexandra, instead, paid more attention to Linfel and Alvin. She couldn\'t help but laugh every time she saw Linfel controlling the Star Rays like they were dogs. Alexandra wasn\'t surprised. When she saw Linfel\'s 999 points in Magic Energy Output while being only a Level Three Familiar, she was certain Linfel had peerless Magic Energy Control as well.

She was still curious about how Linfel managed to control the Star Rays, but it wasn\'t like there wasn\'t anyone in the Ventis Sect with similar abilities.

Her attention then turned to Alvin, who seemed to be Linfel\'s master. Alvin wasn\'t bad, considering the others. He could easily suppress his Magic Energy, making himself invisible to the Star Rays. Looking at Linfel and Alvin\'s Scores, they were doing pretty great for their levels.

Still, she was curious. \'Both of them could make much more points if they wished to. Most likely they are holding back, afraid of attracting more attention than necessary. Hehe. They are heads and shoulders above any other Magus or Familiar at Level Three and ahead of most Level Four, too. Who are they trying to fool?\'

She then looked at Mosie, who was stroking his beard with an interested expression. Xifrin and Trodeu obviously weren\'t the only Level Five Maguses and Familiars. After all, this asteroid united the participants of many planets in a single place. There were more of them here. Yet, she could tell by Mosie\'s expression that he was interested in something else.

Level Five Maguses and Familiars weren\'t enough to get his attention.

She decided to approach the man, who didn\'t really mind it. On the screen he was watching, Linfel was playing with his Star Rays without a care for the world. "Oh! I see Senior Mosie found my little chicken."

Mosie glanced at Alexandra with a smile. "A very interesting chicken indeed. Controlling lower-level creatures without intelligence isn\'t exactly that rare."

He then changed his screen, showing another three Maguses and two Familiars. They, too, seemed capable of controlling the Star Rays. However, none of them could control more than one or two at the same time, and they suffered quite a lot to keep that control.

"These guys can do it as well, and they are all at Level Four. Yet, none of them is anywhere near Leve Three Familiar\'s control. Not only that, he is doing it as if it is the easiest thing in the world. I checked his score during the first test. 999 wasn\'t bad at all. We should have brought a measuring orb that could go over 1000 points to see his real potential.

Oh well, we can check it another time anyway."

Mosie then looked back at Alexandra. "Such a soul is hard to come by in a Familiar. Only spending a fortune on the materials of his core is far from enough. It is all up to chance when it comes to souls, and his master truly hit the jackpot."

Alexandra touched the screen as well, changing it to Alvin. "His master isn\'t all that bad either. Of course, it looks good in this forgotten corner of our Ventis Sect Territory. It\'s nothing special back in the sect, though."

Mosie shook his head. "Don\'t say that. It is impressive he got such a level of Magic Energy Control and Output in this place. That in itself is already worth paying attention to. I just wonder who taught him that Magic Energy Control. People here in this area only care about leveling."

"That I wasn\'t able to find," Alexandra had tried to check, but there wasn\'t much information about Linfel and Alvin. She knows they came from Heffal and that they fled the war, joining Clondure later. Nonetheless, the data she was able to get only mentioned Linfel and Alvin weren\'t anything that impressive back in Heffal. Were they hiding their strength? If so, why?

Nonetheless, neither Alexandra nor Mosie cared about it. "In any case, what matters is that they are showing what they are capable of during the exam. Their past matters not for us. Let\'s hope they can hold for 40 Clicks," Mosie said and changed the screen again. He also wanted to check other Maguses and Familiars.

---

Ten Clicks went by, and Alvin began to get tired. Suppressing his Magic Energy for such a long time truly took a great toll on his body. He went back to Linfel, who had already gotten bored of controlling the Star Rays like Dogs.

Linfel now just stayed there in the middle of the air while releasing a slight amount of Magic Energy. Like that, one or another Star Ray passed by to check on him. He used that opportunity to control them for a moment, take their token, and order them to go away. His points were steadily going up, but not enough to take the top 100. Still far more than enough for the top 1000, though.

Since 7000 or so would pass, that was all he needed to do.

"Lin, Linfel... can you keep an eye out while I rest a little?" Alvin asked.

Linfel glanced at Alvin and then pointed into the distance. There, Milia and Nori still worked hard to get used to controlling their Magic Energy. "Aren\'t you ashamed? Nori and Milia are doing their best there. If you are tired, then rest, but I won\'t protect you."

Alvin scratched the back of his head. "Milia and Nori can work together to give each other some time to rest. I\'m on my own, you know? If I rest, I will let my Magic Energy circulate a little. That will attract the Star Rays."

"No doubt," Linfel agreed. "So make sure to rest where there aren\'t too many Star Rays."

Alvin\'s mouth twitched. That didn\'t help much. "Fine, I will find a way myself."

"Of course you will!" Linfel nodded. "Don\'t forget, you are my trash."

"Can\'t you say something nicer?" Alvin complained. "Like, like... like a friend?"

Linfel was trying to be nice, though... "Oh! Alright, you are my trash friend."

Alvin wanted to cry already. "Just forget the word trash, please!"
