Vol. 3 - Chapter 81 - Katariona Is Exhausted With all the Things that Have Happened
Tojurou-san asked us to sit back down and lift our heads up.
“There\'s one more thing I need to talk to you about.”
I sat back down on the couch and straightened up.
“What is it?
“It’s about Charlotte. She hasn’t enrolled in the Magic Academy this year.”
The matter that Chris had said she would look into had turned up unexpectedly.
“Eh! Why not?”
“I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of it. But, she’s going to delay her entrance due to some family concerns.”
In my previous life, Charlotte had entered the Magic Academy at the age of thirteen. But, in this life, she is going to delay her entrance. I have a bad feeling about this.
“Hey. You don’t suppose the other person who went back in time was Charlotte?”
Chris asked us, guessing the worst possible outcome.
“But, if she had memories like me, wouldn’t it be reasonable to assume that she would’ve already activated the Looting Magic?”
“I’m just saying. For example, what if she just recently got her memory back?”
“Wait! If that were the case, then it would be known that I do not have light magic in my magic attribute test. Do you think there might be some kind of correspondence from the other world?”
Why are your magical attributes changing? Have you also gone back in time? When…...
As Chris and I were speculating with each other, Leon stepped in between us.
“It’s too early to assume that. Let’s see what happens first.”
“That’s right. Let’s discuss what to do in the case that the other party approaches us.”
Why did Charlotte delay her entrance?
This development is different from the previous life.
Had Charlotte changed in some respect, just as I had changed my magical attributes?
I had so many questions.
“Rio, what are you thinking about?”
“I’ve been thinking. I’ve been overthinking things…..”
My thoughts kept heading in the wrong direction.
Leon stared me in the eye with his odd-eye eyes.
“What? Leon.”
“I\'ve been watching you for a long time Rio. And I can tell you that when you have a gloomy look on your face, that\'s when your thoughts are going in the wrong direction. I will ask you again. Rio, what have you been thinking about?”
All this time. It\'s been six years since I met Leon at the age of seven. "I will always be with you," he promised, and he has never failed to live up to his promise to me.
In sickness and in health, he will always be with me till.......
“No! This is more like a wedding vow!”
“What a turn of events!”
It’s a bad habit of mine to say what I’m thinking without realizing it.
“Oh, my. It’s like a comedy act between a loving couple.”
Kikuno-sama said, looking at Leon and me with warm eyes.
Chris laughed, and Tojurou-san was dumbfounded.
“Well, you don’t have to tell me now. But I’ll ask you later.”
I exhaled, while Leon was begging Kikuno-sama for more tea and sweets.
When we returned to the townhouse, we were greeted by my brother.
Chris had been picked up by the Royal Palace at the embassy, so we parted ways there.
My big brother had a student council meeting at the academy today, and he hadn\'t been there since this morning, but apparently, he came back before I did.
“Welcome back, Rio. Leon-sama.”
“I’m back. Big brother. You’re home early.”
He must have come home early because he had already changed into his casual clothes. As soon as Leon returned to the townhouse, he changed back into his cat form.
Yosh! I’m going to fluff him.
“My meeting finished early.”
The student council officers are often selected from those with the highest grades.
It is said that those who belong to the student council at the Magic Academy rise quickly in the ranks.
A good example of this is the assistant to the Prime Minister, Joseph-sama. Joseph, a legitimate son of the Marcus Wright Marquis family, was selected as an apprentice for the position of assistant to the prime minister because of his skills as student body president for three years.
Most of the high achievers are in S class.
By the way, my brother is in S class. He can use powerful Wind Magic and skillful swordsmanship. Students who have special skills, even if they have only one attribute, or who are likely to be recruited by knightly orders or magical academies in the future, are often placed in S class.
“Rio. Have you heard about this year\'s orientation?”
“Yes. It will be a magic battle on the last day, right?”
With Leon in my pocket and my hands wrapped in fluff, I moved to the reception area with my brother.
“I\'m going to participate in the orientation. I was told to follow Master, and besides, I was worried about Rio.”
Big brother knows that Tojurou-san is now the teacher in charge of my class.
“I’ll be fine. But it would be reassuring to know that brother will join us.”
Tojurou-san’s skill with a sword is a testament to him. He has already received his license before I did.
In addition to that, the two of them have been training in secret, so my brother\'s true ability might be considerably more impressive.
“Big brother. You see, Chris and I. We received our license from Tojurou-san today.”
I showed him my mithril sword that I had received from Tojurou-san at the embassy.
“Congratulations, Rio. That’s great. May I see the sword?”
“Go ahead.”
After receiving the sword from me, he pulled it out of its sheath and looked at it.
“It\'s light. Mithril can cut very well, so be careful with it.”
As he handed the sword back to me, he looked as if he remembered something.
The next words that came out of his mouth were more than enough to deal me some damage.
“Also, you know. His Royal Highness the Crown Prince will also be participating.”
Excuse me!?
◇◇◇
“What kind of face is that, Rio?”
After class, I met up with Tria and Angel from S class, and the four of us came to a cafe. It was Ayano-san’s store.
“Eh?”
I dumbly replied to Angel’s question.
“You’ve got dark circles under your eyes. Have you not been sleeping much?”
Tria peered at me with concern.
Chris, who was sitting across from me, seemed to have an idea of what was going on. She gave me a knowing look.
She must have heard about the orientation from the crown prince.
“Well, I had some trouble sleeping.”
When I heard from my brother that His Royal Highness the Crown Prince would be participating in the orientation, I was thinking about various things and before I knew it it was morning. I\'ve been thinking about it for a while now, but I\'m still having trouble wrapping my head around Charlotte\'s problems.
“Well, I\'m not sure if it\'s a good time to invite you?”
Tria was flustered. Her strawberry blonde hair looked delicious.
“It\'s okay, Tria. I was just looking for a change of scenery. Thanks for the invitation.”
It was Tria and Angel who had invited me out today. It was to make up for the entrance ceremony.
“The restaurant has a nice atmosphere.”
Ayano-san was delighted that I had brought a friend and led me to a private room once again.
“It\'s the restaurant of a childhood friend of Tojurou-sans.”
“The teacher in charge of Class A is the Sword Saint of the Wind, right? I caught a glimpse of him and he\'s really neat and fierce.”
Tojurou-san is the type of man that Angel likes. Angel is attracted to strong men.
“By the way, did you hear about the orientation?”
Tria, looking at the strawberry-colored fresh pastries that looked as delicious as her hair color with sparkling eyes, brought up the topic of orientation.
“I heard about it. I\'m pretty sure it was Tojuro who suggested it.”
Chris snapped.
“Chris and Rio were trained by the Sword Sage of the Wind, right? The two of you were amazingly skilled when you competed with each other.”
“Angel\'s skill with the sword was also quite impressive.”
The other day, after school, I secretly rented a practice area and had a sword fight with Angel. Angel\'s skill with the sword is quite impressive.
As expected from someone who practices sword fighting with Lady Margaret every day.
“The Marquis de Grandeur was originally a family that guarded the borders, right? Is that why you\'re still learning swordsmanship?”
It\'s a time of peace now, but in the days when Marion-san was the head of the Marquis de Grandeur, there were constant disputes with neighboring countries.
It\'s not that Marion-san was a skilled fighter. She was more of a strategist. The most important thing to her was her people.
While other lords recruited troops from their own people, Marion did not use her people as a military force.
All she cared about was how to protect her people. That was all she cared about.
Marion-san was a gentle lord.
Thanks to that, she lost her life by using large-scale Transference Magic. That was me two hundred years ago, though.
I wondered if I could do the same thing as Marion-san if I were in her shoes.
“Rio? Can you hear me?”
Chris\'s voice brought me back to my senses.
“I\'m sorry! Did you ask me why I started studying sword fighting?”
I\'ve noticed that I often get lost in my thoughts. I need to cherish the time I have with my friends
“It all started when Tojurou-san and my brother were practicing. I thought it would be nice to be able to protect something by wielding a sword like that. Plus, I thought the special move was cool!”
“The latter is the real reason, isn\'t it? It was for me.”
Chris teased. But I couldn\'t say anything back, because I knew for sure that the latter accounted for a large percentage.
“Excuse me. This is the restaurant\'s main course.”
Ayano-san came into the private room with a transparent bowl.
In the bowl was a liquid with a gradation of light blue as its base.
“It\'s a beautiful color. What did you use for the liquid?”
“The color is a little misleading, but it\'s still fruit juice.”
Ayano-san\'s response today was thorough and firm.
I wonder if it\'s because Tria and Angel are here.
“Fruit juice? What kind of mixture does it take to make this color?"
Tria seemed to be interested.
“It\'s a trade secret. Now then, let\'s get started.”
Ayano-san placed a bowl in the middle of the table and held something wrapped in a thread in her hand.
Could that be it?
When she submerged the thread-wrapped object in the bowl, a redfish appeared in the liquid.
The redfish was beautiful, with a frilly tail. The fish swayed as if it were swimming. “It’s called a goldfish,” she said.
“It’s beautiful! Could this be part of the art of tea making?”
The tea ceremony is a specialty of the Eschen Empire.
The flowering tea that I had made by imitating Therese was an application of tea ceremony.
“That\'s right! Yurie knows everything, doesn\'t she?”
Her customer service suddenly collapsed. Ayano-san is a person with a rich sense of joy, anger, and sorrow.
Chris, Tria, and Angel were also looking into the bowl.
“Huh? Leon’s not here.”
“Oh. The cat is playing with Sotaro.”
Sotaro-san and Leon are playing? I can’t imagine what that would be like.
