Chapter 249: A Mere Six Tiles
Qiao Sang advised earnestly, "Your Meteor Rain skill is way too powerful. If you practice it using Shadow Clone, the house will definitely be ruined. Wait until I find a suitable training ground, and then you can practice with your clones."
"Yap!"
Yabao nodded, wagging his tail with an eager look at his Beast Tamer.
What about the energy-restoration drink? Yabao looked hopeful.
Qiao Sang paused for two seconds and replied, “Used up. I haven’t bought any more.”
“Yal…”
Yabao froze, and his tail stopped wagging.
With a resigned expression, he turned around and slowly made his way back to the courtyard to resume training. My Beast Tamer really is too poor, Yabao thought as he glanced back at her. Qiao Sang, noticing Yabao’s expression, felt slightly uneasy, like something was just a bit off.
"Lu Lu!"
Seeing Yabao walk away, Lubao turned to Qiao Sang with a hopeful look.
Maybe because of their bond, Qiao Sang understood what Lubao was thinking, even without her speaking directly.
After a moment, Qiao Sang said, "I’ll need to study how to teach you the Rain Prayer skill. For now, practice Healing Light."
"Lu Lu..."
Lubao froze in place.
Practice Healing Light? Lubao remembered past sessions of using Healing Light, then glanced at Yabao, who was busy practicing Meteor Rain in the courtyard. Her gaze grew determined.
She wanted to stay here!
"Lu Lu!"
Gritting her teeth, Lubao dashed toward the direction of Meteor Rain’s impact zone.
Qiao Sang was startled. In the blink of an eye, she grabbed Lubao’s tail and shouted, "What are you doing? Didn’t you see the Meteor Rain over there?!"
"Lu Lu?"
Lubao looked confused. Weren’t we supposed to practice Healing Light?
Qiao Sang set her down and frowned.
"What does practicing Healing Light have to do with running straight into Meteor Rain\'s attack range?"
"Lu Lu?"
Lubao looked even more bewildered. How could she practice Healing Light without getting injured first?
Qiao Sang paused, her throat suddenly dry.
“So... you practiced Healing Light on yourself every time?”
"Lu Lu." Lubao nodded.
Qiao Sang kept her face expressionless, but her clenched fists betrayed her turbulent emotions.
She had once suspected this after learning that Lubao had perfected Healing Light in just seven months, but hearing it confirmed was unsettling.
If Water Luriana had been domesticated, the Alliance would have treated it as a treasure, certainly not left it like this.
Taking a deep breath, Qiao Sang looked atLubao and said seriously, "Healing Light doesn’t have to be practiced on yourself. It\'s more effective to use it on others. Have you ever seen a doctor who injures themselves just to practice their skills?"
"In the past, you had no choice. But now, there’s no need to keep doing it this way."
"Lu Lu..."
Lubao gazed at her newly acquired Beast Tamer, her eyes showing an innocence that matched her age for the first time.
Qiao Sang suddenly called out, “Little Treasure!”
“Xun~”
Little Treasure, who had been chopping tiles nearby, raised his head immediately and appeared before Qiao Sang in an instant.
“Hold out your paw.” Qiao Sang said.
Little Treasure, unsure why, extended his short claw anyway.
"All this time, I thought..." Qiao Sang started to speak but stopped mid-sentence, looking at Little Xunbao’s chubby paw in surprise.
“How are you not hurt?”
She’d expected Little Treasure’s claws to be swollen from all that tile-chopping, but they showed no sign of injury.
She quickly realized the reason. It seemed that all this tile-chopping had thickened Little Treasure’s skin.
Nice, just like they say online, she thought. If you don’t master tile-chopping, at least your resistance to injury will improve.
"Xun Xun!"
Excited, Little Treasure demonstrated his perfected tile-chopping form in the air with his short claws, eager to show its skills.
Qiao Sang pointed out mercilessly, “You’re still practicing with just three tiles, right?”
“Xun.”
Little Treasure nodded.
“You’re so strong now, time to increase the challenge.” Qiao Sang smiled.
“From now on, practice with six tiles each time.”
“Xun…"
Little Treasure’s mind conjured an image of six stacked tiles and his eyes widened.
“It’s okay; if you get hurt, Lubao can heal you.” Qiao Sang reassured it.
"Lu Lu."
Lubao looked at Qiao Sang with a I can’t believe you expression.
“Xun…”
Little Treasure tried to protest.
Just then, Qiao Sang added, “The sports meet is coming up. If you keep practicing with only three tiles, there’s no way we’ll get first place.”
"Xun!"
With newfound determination, Little Treasure flexed his tiny arms, imitating the fighting pose of a martial arts Beast he had seen in videos.
A mere six tiles! Nothing he can’t handle!
"Lu Lu."
Watching Qiao Sang and Little Treasure’s exchange, Lubao couldn’t help but grin.
After organizing Lubao and Little Treasure’s training, Qiao Sang returned to her room to start on her homework.
Looking at the geography questions in front of her, for the first time, the answers didn’t come from rote memory but instead appeared like a vivid 3D map in her mind, almost like she was viewing it from a godly perspective.
Qiao Sang wrote down the answers in a flurry.
After she finished, she sat back, stunned.
Since when did she get so good? She’d only attended one lecture without even reviewing it, yet her recall was this perfect.
Was it the effect of using 20% of her brainpower or the benefits of bonding with her Beasts?
Lost in thought, she remembered the dimwitted D-ranked Beast Tamer who had come as security to capture Lubao not long ago.
Guess my memory boost has nothing to do with using 20% of my brain, she concluded.
Just then, her phone vibrated with a new message.
It was from the Beast Tamer Battle Club.
Every night lately, the club had been sending her texts asking if she was available as a sparring partner.
But with her packed schedule of classes, training, and homework, she’d declined each time, too exhausted to consider it.
Qiao Sang stared at the text for a moment, then started typing: [I’ll be there in an hour.]
At the Hong Ying Beast Tamer Battle Club, Qiao Sang noticed a woman with pale skin and long, curly blond hair. She was surprised.
“Where’s the regular receptionist?” She asked.
The woman smiled, “She struck it rich recently and resigned.”
Memories of that incident resurfaced.
“Was it two-hundred thousand alliance coins?” Qiao Sang hesitated.
The woman’s eyes widened.
“How did you know?”
Qiao Sang was speechless.
Of course she knew, she’d almost claimed that two-hundred thousand herself, just two minutes short. It was something she’d never forget.
Qiao Sang stepped into the designated training room, pushing the door open. Inside, she saw familiar faces, both human and Beast.
“Hey, big boss! You made it!”
“Crown.”
